We hope to be doing a lot of concerts in your area and see you in person.

In September, we were in Gallup New Mexico at the Kenneth Holloway Auditorium, sponsored by KYVA radio, Sammy C. and George M., Mataya’s and Gurly Motor Ford. What a GREAT concert! We are still talking about that one. We had so many people and they all had a great time reminiscing with us as we did all their favorites. Thanks Sammy C.!! We hope you will bring us back soon.

I had a concert in Pueblo Co. also and that was really fun! Thank you KDZA Radio and Cape Entertainment! Best of all I was reunited with my old friends, Lillian, Jeff and Timothy that I hadn’t seen in many years.

Also we salute the newest member of Rosie and the Originals, Gene Romero who hails from Los Lunas, NM. Very soon you will be able to view a video clip of Gene performing with us in Gallup, NM and we all agree that he certainly adds to the group, doing Great lead vocals, harmonies and a great bass player!

In Oct. I, Rosie, started a music consultant program at the Barrio Station Youth Center in San Diego, thru a grant from The Calif Arts Council and I must say that there is a lot of talent there. The students range from 11 to 16 yrs old. Right now I’m having a great time with them and I believe we will see some future professionals come out of the program, which is designed to perpetuate the art of Rhythm and blues.

Rosie and the Originals are at the beginning of negotiations with a record company in England for one of our cd’s — wish us luck, we will tell more later. Also we have recorded two songs and presented them to a very well known Disc Jockey and well known record company for their approval, wish us luck on that also. We will tell you next month in an update what is going on with all that.

Concert wise, you can see Rosie at the Pima County Fairgrounds, Tucson Arizona on Feb. 9th and the America West Arena, Phoenix Arizona on Feb 10th. If we haven’t played your area yet, call your favorite local radio station and ask them to bring us out and you won’t be disappointed. We are currently planning our schedule for the summer, don’t be left out!

Other tidbits: Matt Garcia, Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies and History at University of Oregon, new book due out mentioning Rosie and the Originals. Also, Opal Nations and Randy Tambert, writers and music research historians just finished a very detailed story on Rosie and the Originals for a northern Calif and possibly England publications on rhythm and blues.

Also, a very big CONGRATULATIONS to the Ritchie Valens family! I just heard that Ritchie will be officially inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame soon. I’m very happy for the family, it is long over due!

On another note, we wish to extend our sympathies to the families of our dear friends, Johnny Flamingo and Vernon Greene, who gave the world their music for many years, they will be missed.

If I have missed anything, I will do an update soon. Thank you for interest and fanship.

Rosie of the Originals

Greetings from Rosie and the Originals We have been having a great year and hope this New Year will be great for all our fans and for us too!
